125 YEARS OF IUFRO – CONGRESS AND ANNIVERSARY GALA FOR 2,000 GUESTS

The Konzerthaus Freiburg is the ideal partner for professional congress organisers like Intercongress GmbH. In 2017, the organisers of the Internationaler Forstwissenschaftskongress (International Forestry Congress) of the IUFRO (International Union of Forest Research Organizations) hosted the event in Freiburg. The University of Freiburg and the Konzerthaus Freiburg were the locations for the event. What was special about that year was the anniversary gala to mark the 125th birthday of IUFRO and the correspondingly large number of participants and guests from all over the world. Around 2,000 scientists from 90 nations, representatives from politics, science and international non-profit organisations came together for five days in Freiburg to take part in the event.

We’ve worked with the Konzerthaus Freiburg on many of our national and international congresses over the past few years. For us as professional congress organisers, having a long-term, productive relationship with venues is a huge relief. That makes us even happier about the partnership between the Konzerthaus and Intercongress, and we hope to continue working together on many more projects in future!

THE ENTIRE KONZERTHAUS JOINS TOGETHER IN THOUGHT AND CELEBRATION

In addition to seminar rooms at the university, the entire Konzerthaus was used for the major event, which was complex not only in terms of science, but also in terms of logistics and technology. In total, 1,344 lectures, 453 poster presentations and 171 meetings (up to 18 meetings at a time) took place. All presentations were also streamed live online. The closing anniversary gala with around 1,000 guests took place in the celebratory and elegant setting of the Konzerthaus’s Rolf Böhme Saal.

IUFRO ANNIVERSARY GALA AT THE KONZERTHAUS FREIBURG

From 18 to 22 September 2017, around 2,000 scientists from 90 nations, representatives from politics, science and international non-profit organisations visited Freiburg to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the IUFRO (International Union of Forest Research Organizations) at the Konzerthaus.

The celebratory anniversary gala with around 1,000 guests took place in the Rolf Böhme Saal at the Konzerthaus Freiburg.

Rooms used at the Konzerthaus Freiburg: entire building (Rolf Böhme Saal, Runder Saal, conference room 1, conference rooms 2–4, conference rooms 5–7, conference room 8, conference room 9, Libresso, ground floor foyer, first floor foyer, second floor foyer and the forecourt).

All presentations were streamed live online.
